Carmel Co-Develops Custom Software Tool for a Division of Honeywell International

Carmel Software announces that it has completed the co-development of a customized HVAC system energy analysis software tool for Phoenix Controls, a business of Honeywell International, Inc. This tool, called PC OptimizerTM, was specifically designed for use by their customers to perform conceptual energy analysis that compares the specialized Phoenix Controls valves to conventional variable-air volume and constant volume systems. This software tool is most appropriate for modeling research, healthcare, and lab facilities, where Phoenix valves are most commonly used. It includes the following features:
  1. Models supply and either return or exhaust-only HVAC systems
  2. Includes weather data for 500+ cities worldwide
  3. Performs both BIN and 8760 hour-by-hour energy analysis
  4. Models economizers and heat recovery units
  5. Models air changes/hr and thermal air flow profiles for many different types of rooms
  6. Models fume-hoods, auxiliary exhaust and auxiliary supply fans
  7. Models systems with different occupancy schedules and occupancy probabilities
  8. Performs Monte-Carlo analysis based upon occupancy probability for fume-hoods and room presence
  9. Performs air balance analysis amongst multiple rooms and corridors
  10. Allows for input of electrical and heating costs for a wide variety of units (i.e. - kWh, therms, BTUh, etc.)
  11. Allows for input of many different types of first costs, annual recurring costs (O&M), and product costs
  12. Calculates energy usage for supply, return, exhaust fans, cooling and heating plants, and reheat coils
  13. Calculates and compares total energy and life cycle costs among different control strategies.
  14. Performs a variety of what-if scenarios
  15. Includes a dashboard output that allows for quick analysis of results
  16. Includes over 10 detailed reports that can be viewed, printed, and exported
  17. Uses both English and Metric units
  18. Includes many built-in default values
